Nordic Europe, Arctic Circle
Lumière Borealis, The Arctic Retreat
Seven nights immersed in the white silence of Finnish Lapland, among huskies, carved ice and a sky that dances in green.
There are places that do not ask to be seen, they ask to be felt in silence. Finnish Lapland is one of them. There, day blurs into night, white covers everything that exists, and the body learns, almost by force, to slow down.
This expedition was born of the wish to offer not a winter trip, but a true pause. Between the Santa Claus Village, a husky safari through the frozen forest and an entire evening inside a restaurant carved from ice, every day was designed to give back something rare: the feeling of being fully present.
The high point comes at the end, under a sky that rarely repeats itself, when the Northern Lights appear and remind us that there are phenomena no curation can promise, only lead you to the right place to live them.

Days 1 to 4
Rovaniemi
The official capital of Lapland and the gateway to the Arctic Circle, Rovaniemi is where the journey finds its rhythm. It is here that cold stops being discomfort and becomes part of the experience, among the snowy forest, the huskies and the ice that turns into architecture. The city serves as the base for the first days of immersion, balancing adventure, the senses, and the first signs that this is no ordinary trip.
Dia 1
“The silence begins here”

Arrival in Rovaniemi and transfer to the hotel, with check in at the Scandic Rovaniemi. The first contact with the Arctic landscape happens on the road itself, among snow covered forests and a low light that announces the Nordic winter in its purest form.
Dia 2
“Among reindeer and sled dogs”

A morning visit to the Santa Claus Village, followed by a private husky sled safari through the frozen forest, lasting two and a half hours. The absolute white silence of the landscape is broken only by the panting of the dogs and the sled sliding over fresh snow.
Dia 3
“Speed and reward”

A morning on snowmobiles cutting through the landscape at speed, followed by a more contemplative afternoon of ice fishing, with lunch served outdoors. The contrast between adrenaline and stillness sums up the spirit of this journey well.
Dia 4
“Sailing the Arctic”

The Icebreaker Sampo cruise, Blue Moment, lasting four hours with a buffet lunch on board. The ship advances slowly between Arctic ice plates, revealing a landscape few travellers in the world get to see from so close.
Day 5
Arctic SnowHotel
A structure carved entirely from ice and snow, the Arctic SnowHotel is the sensory turning point of the journey. Spending a few hours there means experiencing cold as an aesthetic element, not as hardship.
Dia 5
“A night inside the ice”

A guided visit through the hotel's ice structures, followed by a snow sauna and a Finnish sauna with an outdoor jacuzzi, a physical contrast between absolute cold and intense heat. The day closes with a three course dinner served inside the ice restaurant, by candlelight.
Days 6 to 8
Levi
Smaller and more intimate than Rovaniemi, Levi is where the journey turns inward. It is here that the landscape opens into untouched forest and where the Northern Lights, when they appear, find their quietest stage.
Dia 6
“The road to the greater silence”

A morning visit to a reindeer farm, with lunch on site, followed by the transfer to Levi and check in at the Northern Lights Village. The landscape changes along the way, untouched forest and absolute white as far as the eye can see.
Dia 7
“The wait for the sky”

A two hour snowshoe walk through the forest, followed by a guided photography excursion and the hunt for the Northern Lights in a heated sleigh. The search for the most longed for phenomenon on the planet happens slowly, under a sky that rarely repeats itself.
Dia 8
“The last table of the Arctic”

A farewell dinner at the Nili restaurant, closing the expedition in an intimate mood before the transfer to Kittilä Airport.
